The fall in the stock market continues, and the market continues to win back the scenario of a rapid increase in the interest rate by the Fed to fight inflation. At this pace, by the end of the year, the rate will reach 4%, which has not been in the US for 15 years. It will lead to some decrease in economic activity, in fact, to a recession. At the same time, a good sign is a fall in oil prices – energy is one of the main drivers of inflation today.

By the looks of it, the market will stop falling into the abyss around the time inflation begins to decline steadily, which is unlikely to happen before the end of 2022.

Investors can now prepare to enter US equities with their accumulated dollars at lower prices.

Cryptocurrencies

The cryptocurrency market is stormy and in a fever. Bitcoin lost more than 30% of its value in June, Ethereum almost 40% (due to another delay in the transition to Proof-of-Stake). Against this background, reports about the problems of large cryptocurrency companies: Celsius and Three Arrow capital. The first limited the withdrawal of clients’ funds, and the second seemed to have gotten into a big mess with LUNA and UST and is now close to bankruptcy.

 It is somewhat reminiscent of the story of 2008, when the failure of one bank in the United States launched a chain reaction of a decisive crisis (in our case, the collapse of Terra). As a result, it turned out – “for what they fought for, they ran into it”; – the crypto market failed to become an alternative financial system; he only adopted many of her negative traits, first of all, greed and underestimation of risks. However, we believe this crisis is suitable for the market – money will flow to the best cryptocurrency projects and companies, which will help the development of the industry in the long term. But unfortunately, the media always bury the crypt; this is not the first time.

Should you buy cryptocurrencies now? In our opinion, it is still too early. For example, the problem with the USDD stablecoin is still hanging in the air – currently, it is trading at $0.96 instead of $; we already know how this may end. Plus, there is a lot of pressure from the falling stock market.

Precious metals

•  Gold (PAX Gold): +0.18% (+0.62$).

In the 1st quarter of 2022, a deficit appeared in the world gold market due to high investment demand – more than 550 tons (for comparison, in the 4th quarter of 2021 – 304 tons). Most likely, in the 2nd quarter, the figures will be more modest. Still, in general, investments in gold now look pretty good against the backdrop of the economic crisis, money from shares is partially flowing into precious metals.
