Such failures have already happened to the company more than once. Two years ago, the Coinbase and Polonex exchanges stopped working. A few days ago, another failure occurred in Asia and Eastern Europe – Canva, Discord and other sites ceased functioning.

Now the work of the provider is practically restored, although not completely. At the same time, until now, no one has said anything about what caused such a large-scale failure. The company knows that Cloudflare has problems from time to time, but why they have not been able to fix them is unclear.

Perhaps the subsequent failure is due to a hardware malfunction or an attack by cybercriminals. Experts warned a few years ago that many providers would be vulnerable to attacks by organized groups of hackers. Unfortunately, the capabilities of such groups are constantly growing, as are the volumes of attacks.

Confirmation of the fact of a hacker attack as the cause of the failure will be another proof that will be further evidence of the severe technical vulnerability of this critical infrastructure. As a result, the authorities of many countries are making significant efforts to ensure its protection.

In particular, some of their plans are to create a consortium, which should provide reliable protection against hacks and other hacker attacks. Commercial structures will bear all costs. This year, we should expect an increase in the number of powerful attacks by cybercriminals that can be sponsored, among other things, by structures associated with government agencies.
