In addition to sponsoring the bill for blockchain technology, Congressman Darren Soto has announced that his campaign for the upcoming elections will be accepting donations in the form of cryptocurrency. The announcement came out when he was addressing the United States Blockchain Debate on Wednesday. The event was hosted jointly by the Soto election campaign and the Chamber of Digital Commerce PAC.
The campaign will be using BitPay to process all the donations it receives via cryptocurrency. The system supports eight different cryptocurrencies including the major ones. These will include Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), USD Coin (USDC), Gemeni Dollar (GUSD), XRP, Binance USD (BUSD), and Paxos Standard (PAX).
Congressman Soto has been supporting the use of blockchain technology for a long time and has been urging the United States government to incorporate it into the US economy. Sponsoring the Blockchain Innovation Act has been his latest effort which is the farthest that the technology has gone so far in its pursuit to get legal recognition.
